STUDENTS INTERESTS TOWARDS SCIENCE FIELDS ABOUT EXHIBITIONS IN SCIENCE CENTERS: FEZA GURSEY SCIENCE CENTER IN TURKEY
Abstract
In this study, it was attempted to obtain information from their drawings about which science fields the students, visiting Feza Gursey Science Center (FGSC), were interested in the most. The research was performed in 5 primary schools which visited FGSC in Ankara in 2005 and it took 4 weeks. One hundred and twenty-two students from 6th, 7th and 8th grades were evaluated in this study. In obtaining interests of students from 6th, 7th and 8th grade towards science fields after the exhibitions in the FGSC, “drawing” method which is a qualitative approach was used. As a result of this research, it is found that students who visited FGSC are mostly interested in physics a science field, and biology, chemistry and astronomy fields follow this. It was also noted that only 24 out of 122 students who attended the research knew the name of exhibition or activity which he drew about.

CONCEPTUAL REASONING FOR DIDACTICS OF AUGMENTED REALITY TEACHING / LEARNING PLATFORM: SOME PRELIMINARY IDEAS
Abstract
The problematics of Information and Communication Technologies is undoubtedly important area in modern education. The world rapidly changes and technical potentiality is constantly growing. The digital revolution is making life easier for people in both directions work and leisure time. A question if we can support an idea that modern ICT helps with the educational process is not explicit? Obviously, ICT improvement leads to applying them in different areas of our life.
On the one hand, the educational environment of ICT implementation plays a major role. Possessing modern ICT cannot be the only factor as in order to improve the educational process we need to know the ways of using them i.e. it should not be a matter of fashion. On the other hand, ICT (audiovisual, computer, interactive etc.) themselves are the objects of thorough investigations. So, an international scientific project ARiSE could be the best example (http://www.arise-project.org). Seven institutions from five European countries including Germany, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Romania and Malta are the participants of the event. The coordinator of the project is Fraunhofer-Institut IAIS (Fraunhofer Institut Intelligente Analyse – und Informationssysteme, Sankt Augustin, Germany) (http://www.iais.fraunhofer.de/). The main objective of the ARiSE Project is to test the pedagogical effectiveness of introducing augmented reality (AR) into the classroom and creating remote collaboration between classes around AR display systems.
Also, the important task is to develop a pedagogical reasoning of the given augmented reality technology in school environments. In this article the first conceptual ideas on this question are presented.

ELECTRONIC INFORMATION RESOURCES FOR SCIENCE EDUCATION
Abstract
It should be noticed that though the amount of information resources is constantly increasing, natural science education suffers from lack of electronic information sources. Moreover, in this case, the Lithuanian language is used extremely rarely.
Presently, more and more teachers of natural sciences use the Internet, and therefore the popularity of electronic information resources is growing. However, the questions of how to evaluate the quality of similar resources and how to conceptually integrate those into the teaching/learning process arise. Legal and ethical aspects of using information found on the Internet are faced i.e. the problems of quotation, plagiarism and copyright are encountered.
Connecting science education teachers to innovative electronic information resources is the subject of discussion. The growing number of electronic resources can make finding resources with high quality content. Electronic resources are not fully realized by science education teachers. Therefore, the main goal of this article is to introduce science teachers with the most popular digital resources.
In this article the databases, e-libraries, e-journals and books, encyclopedias, most popular search engines for science teachers are presented.

THE MODELLING OF TEACHING PROCESS IN A GEOGRAPHY LESSON
Abstract
The majority of Lithuanian and foreign scientists of education analyse the structure and stages of education process, factors which cause this process. Many of them have developed the models of teaching process which are based on their research work and educational working experience.
Teaching process is related to the methods used in education, the form of education and its vicissitudes.
The how teaching process will be modelled and will be used methods of education and self-training, what will be the cooperation among students in gaining geographical knowledge, what influence in gaining that knowledge will make the factors of the environment, the more effective teaching process and self-training will be, the geographical competence will be gained by students easier.
The article will focus on the modelling of teaching process during the lesson, the relation between the teaching process and the method of teaching.

ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES DURING MATHEMATICAL EXCURSIONS IN PRIMARY SCHOOL (3rd year of teaching)
Abstract
Although the General education programmes are aimed at developing children’s abilities to understand and communicate with the world of nature and to know the closest environment, the modern educational system devotes scant attention to environmental studies. Theoretically, everyone at school accepts the importance of research on environmental issues, however, practically only the teachers willing to discover something new are involved in such activities. Environmental education becomes more amateur.
The believers in environmental research as the most efficient perception method do not have a feeling of disappointment. This is the exact media where social and ethical problems are successfully solved, socialization of children takes place, self-expression is encouraged, an attitude to protect nature is formed and abilities of scientific acquisition are developed. Mathematics is a valuable tool of environmental research in primary school. The author supposes that a right combination of mathematics and environmental studies can help with achieving positive results.
Researching the immediate nature is the most efficient way to know it. The children acknowledge the environment through seeing, hearing, touching, smelling and sometimes tasting.
Along environment acquisition, the valuable attitudes such as aesthetical perception and the moral culture are acquired. Environmental studies provides information necessary for successful teaching of natural sciences. The environment-centred activities assist the learners in gaining the initial skills at collecting and processing information.
In the majority of cases, environmental studies cannot be imagined without mathematics, and therefore an accurate combination of mathematics and environmental education must be performed. In this case, a teacher experiences serious difficulties that can be overcome by the scientists fairly familiar with the methodologies of these subjects. The mother tongue, arts, physical education etc. encounter the same situation. The teachers and class mentors arrange plenty of nature trips, excursions and sightseeing tours. Nevertheless, due to lack of a clear policy and modern methodologies these activities are poorly coherent. Environmental studies are sponsored by private initiatives and thus not always are balanced and suffer from shortage of consistency, purposefulness and continuation.

THE FORMATION OF STUDENT`S ECOLOGICAL OUTLOOK – METHODS OF EXPLORATION (EXPERIENCE OF AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITIES)
Abstract
The formation of harmonic relations between nature and a society implies upbringing of the community members as well as adoption of the behavior patterns with emphasis on a modern ecological outlook. Therefore we have introduced methods of exploration and promotion of different levels of the student’s ecological outlook. The experiment included seminars, discussions, surveys, and ecological education of both students and instructors of the Ukrainian Agricultural Universities.

MINERALS: NATURAL COMPOUNDS AND LABORATORY IMITATIONS
Abstract
Ways of laboratory synthesis of solid inorganic substances by analogy to the processes in the nature are considered. Techniques of synthesis of inorganic compounds in gels as a result of reactions with the counter or unilateral diffusion, sold in conditions of school chemical laboratory are resulted. It is shown, that the offered techniques can be used at the organization of design activity of pupils, and also at carrying out of the integrated lessons. The contents of lessons in chemistry-geography on a theme «Mineralization and structure of minerals» and in chemistry-biology on a theme «Crystallization of inorganic salts in alive organisms» is considered. It is shown, that modeling of natural processes serves in laboratory conditions means of formation of representations about material unity of the world surrounding us.
