LESSONS ABOUT HEALTHY LIFESTYLE SKILLS
Abstract
To develop students’ skills in a healthy lifestyle is not an easy task to perform. Indeed, it is difficult to offer a universal recipe for success or a solid guarantee because such guidelines simply do not exist - there are no universal expectations associated with healthy lifestyles and skills. Obviously, cultivation of healthy living skills is a gradual and complex process, where it is important to foreground even small achievements.
Although recently a number of discussions on this topic have been carried in the public space, it is not always easy to apply the given ideas in practice. Regardless of how much has been written or spoken on these issues, healthy lifestyle has not become one of our priorities in life, while students’ healthy lifestyle and physical education as a discipline are still given too little attention. Consequently, in order to reinforce physical education as one of the key subjects at school, teachers are constantly looking for various ways to meet the students’ innate need to move, experience the joy of movement and to provide more opportunities through sports events and other projects. Indeed, we tend to involve the entire school community in this activity.
This article introduces the basic health-promoting activities and the project "February - Fitness Month" implemented in Vilnius Jonas Basanavičius gymnasium. The participants of the aforementioned project have been declared winners in Vilnius.
The school, in planning health promotion activities, should include three key areas:
• safe and healthy school environment;
• effective health education programs;
• close relationship with parents and community.

USE OF LITERATURE IN BIOLOGY AND PHYSICS LESSONS
Abstract
Nowadays teachers of natural science are in difficult situation. On one hand, the progress of natural science requires expand the content of education. On the other hand, hours to educate students is being reduced. There are several ways to solve this problem. For example to motivate students to learn independently and increase integration of natural science with language education.
To seek for implementation of interdisciplinary integration and tasks differentiation ideas it is necessary to find relationship between educational subjects and to invoke professional competence.

THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT APPROACH IN THE PRE-SCHOOL INSTITUTION
Abstract
The use of the project approach in the process of pre-school education enables learners‘ active participation. The aim of the research is to find out more about the choisen topic but not to hear the teacher‘s prepared answers in advance. The projects give children the opportunity to become researchers, discover someting new and become aware of it.
Ecological education plays a significant role in the pre-school institutions. It is a consistent process that refers to organized efforts to teach about how natural environments function and, particularly, how human beings can manage their behavior in order to live sustainably. Only what we know well we respect and protect ( G.Gurevičiūtė,1997).
World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. An international day to celebrate freshwater was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day
In Kėdainiai nursery „Žilvitis“ a youthful club „Žilvičiukai“ is at work. The project called „Water –the source of life“ was organized.
The educational project "Water - the source of life" is an invitation to youngsters, their parents and teachers to respond to the institution's motto and learn more about water. The aim of the project - to support and promote interest in natural water, explore the quality of water carrying out various tests and reveal the importance of water conservation.
The activities were divided into 2 stages: water, its qualities, usage and water pollution, resources. Children had to fulfill various tasks. With the help of a map, a globe and prepared visual aids children tried to find out the amount of water on the earth. The pupils carried out several tests in order to determine the qualities of water. They draw a conclusion that water is colourless and scentless liquid. While cooling and heating water they found its physical characteristics: solid state, ice, and gaseous state (water vapor or steam).
A diverse water research allowed children to understand the characteristics of water better. Children were able to explore water using various forms of games and experiments. The pupils realised that water should be protected and used in moderation not only in the nursery, at home but throughout the environment too. Children found out that the quality of water and pollution may cause health problems and conditioning with water could become a pleasure.

EUROPEAN LEARNING SCENARIOS AND TECHNOLOGICAL STRATEGY FOR THE FUTURE SCHOOL
Abstract
The paper is aimed to present the results of the first cycle of iTEC project implementation in Lithuania. iTEC is the largest scientific project in Europe aimed at creating and piloting future school vision. Project partners create new learning scenarios and technologies to support them, pilot scenarios and technologies in several schools in each project country, implement the selected scenarios in up to 1,000 classes all over Europe, and research the results and impact of each cycle. Several first cycle learning scenarios and technological strategy are presented in more detail. The project’s technological strategy consists of three main parts: learning environments called shells, small intelligent programmes called widgets, and composers to upload and register widgets in the shells. Several examples of piloting Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Environmental learning scenarios in Lithuania are presented in the paper. The first project cycle results and its impact are analysed.

THE PROJECT’S „TREES ARE OUR FRIENDS“ PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF REALISATION
Abstract
Key objectives of I and III classes Pabiržė elementary school students' project entitled "Trees are our friends" are to gain new knowledge about trees and become their friends.
During the project, split into groups, students became acquainted with the growth of trees, their meaning in history and literature, properties and uses, enjoyed nature, took photographs. Through a survey the students' families' tree growing habits and favorite trees were investigated. During the meeting with foresters pupils were taught different ways of identifying the age of a tree. The hardness of wood was evaluated with the technology teacher's help. The knowledge of wood-processing and application was gained in the sawmill. The project was illustrated with applications, drawings on paper and wood trimmings.
The chosen theme of the project allowed the students to develop and improve the learning to learn, communication, cooperation, cognitive competencies, get acquainted with nature. These activities will continue to foster the desire to perform research, develop, search, organize information, go beyond the work of the classroom.

APPLICATION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN THE LESSONS OF SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT, SCIENCE AND HEALTH EDUCATION IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
Abstract
The successful application of information technologies in education process of primary schools, helps Lithuanian primary school to change itself in presentation of information, the forms of conveyance and the quality of education. The meaning of application of information technologies in science lessons expands the possibilities of artistic expressions, the ways of creativity and forms of capabilities; create conditions for creative integration of knowledge and skills (the objective of integration is to learn by creating, apply knowledge and skills in the practical living environment); highlights the possibilities of general thinking skills and overall skills development; foster communication and cooperation (LRŠMM Education Development Center. The possibilities of information technologies application in the process of education: teacher recommendations, 2005).
Having reviewed the contact of information technologies and education theories, it can be stated that a child’s education is the most important where information technologies are perceived as the means to achieve educational results. The aforesaid situation in science lessons still episodically is repeated.
The research showed that primary classes are mostly computerized. Therefore, primary school teacher can use information technologies in science lessons in order to make the process of education more attractive to students encouraging their participation and so on. The application of information technologies in science lessons could be more frequent and the change of the situation could be encouraged by a better quality of technology, its variety and teachers’ professional competence (in the broad sense).

ECOLOGIC LESSONS AT VILNIUS „BITUTE‘ NUNSERY-SCHOOL
Abstract
Nowadays children are those who will be over taking the world and will lead on the direction of human. It is important for children to respect each other and the environment they live. Modern world is crazy about the ecology. It would be nice to believe that this is not a short term excitement or fashion. It is very important that children would take it as a lifestyle. We hope that they will get to use to live the eco way and they continue to take cae of their well-being when they grew up. This is why it’s so important for teachers not just to teach the childrem but also educate. Children are bringing into their families not the the knowledge about the ecology but eco skills in the first instance. We have noticed that parents are learning from their children as they allways share the things they have learned, so we are very happy about the parents’ initiative in our project, i.e arranging the exhibitions of ecological works, organising environment protection excursions, creating eco wonderland. All this prooves, that parents presence in the eco discussion with the children is necessary. Children experiencing parents’ encouragement and their participation can better understand the nature of the environment protection. All the joint activities involving both, children and parents, justified our hope. Environment protection excursions, practical and educational activities broadens not only the children’s outlook but also the vision of the educators and allows ecological problems to take in the more extensive.

APPLICATION OF PRACTICAL WORKS IN NATURAL SCIENCE EDUCATION
Abstract
One of the tasks of natural history education is that the students are able to raise questions and hypotheses, plan observations and experiments, and safely use laboratory materials and equipment. Also, they can carry out experiments, sum up the forthcoming data, evaluate their accuracy and plausibility, and formulate valid conclusions.
The pupils are mostly motivated by experimenting on their own, after that demonstrative experiments, and only when there is no possibility to perform a real experiment, they choose a virtual one. The harmony between classical experiments and information technologies is essential; for example, processing the results of the experiments on a computer, looking for information in the Internet). I use the descriptions of the experiments made by others or make them myself; sometimes I adapt them according to the level of the pupils, learning equipment. By the way, pupils carry out experiments using their own plan. It is very important for the tasks to be very specific and understandable. It is important to control the results of the experiments carried out by pupils, apply the evaluation creatively, usually it is an accumulative evaluation. Sometimes the experiments performed during the class grow up into researches which can be presented in conferences. Such tasks are offered to those who are especially interested in natural history. The advantages of the experiments: the pupils’ motivation is increased; different competences are acquired; it is more interesting to work. Problems: more time is needed to prepare for lessons, we need some material resources, it is more difficult to control the pupils, to ensure their security, and some extra struggle is needed to keep order in class. Also, the consultation of scientists and special equipment is needed to perform bigger tasks.

THE EDUCATION OF SUSTAINABLE RELATIONSHIP WITH NATURE IN PRIMARY CLASSES
Abstract
The main source of knowledge comes from the nature. The direct observation and analysis of the nature is one of the major methods to cognize it. When observing, researching the nature schoolchildren of primary classes get new knowledge, develop their cognitive interests, curiosity, relationship with nature, aesthetical view to environment and develop a love to nature. There are subscribed the forms of education aimed that schoolchild get better to know nature, take care and protect her. This is trips, educational activities in the museums, extramural excursions, various ecology movements, project activities, information and communication technologies which are used in the classroom. The better child will know the nature, unriddle its secrets the more sustainable will be his relationship with everything that surrounds it. There are provided examples of how I implement the objectives of natural science education goals. Review how a schoolchild should learn to evaluate his skills.

A DROP OF FRESH WATER IS BETTER THAN A SALT RIVER
Abstract
Mankind collides with a very important problem of clean environment. Water is a part of environment, therefore the quality of water is very important.
We live in Kaunas, but a part of inhabitants, who have their own houses, use the water from personal wells. We investigated the water used for food by the inhabitants of micro districts in Kaunas: Aukštieji Šančiai (7 wells), Žemieji Šančiai (6 wells), Rokai (6 wells).
While performing research experiments the quality of water in the wells and its conformity to state standards is determined. In drinking water there cannot be undissolvable admixtures and microorganisms, which can cause diseases. General hardness of water we established by a complexonometric method. After we established nitrate and iron amount, we made a calibration graph. We used gravimetrical method investigating sulphate concentration. The amount of indirect organic substance we established by permanganate oxidation method, chloride concentration by Mora’s methhod, pH by pH-meter assistance, distinctive electricity electro conductivity - with a dissolved solids tester. Also we counted up general number of saprophytes bacteria. All investigations, performed by us, were compared with state standards demand.
Referring to our research work conclusions, we produced offers and recommendations to inhabitants.

DISCOVERIES IN A LESSON OF SURROUNDING WORLD LEARNING: FROM THEORY TO SPECIFIC ACTIVITY
Abstract
The article discusses the notion of discoveries penetrating into certain theoretical aspects of discoveries (Grendstad, 1996; McLellan, 2006; Carten, 2009 and others). The most considerable attention is paid to the role of teacher in it: how s/he manages activities during a lesion, how learners’ motivation is promoted and how a teacher facilitates internalisation of learners’ knowledge (Domin, 1999; Tijūnelienė, 2007 and others).
The second part of the article presents pedagogical experience, which was accumulated organising a lesson of surrounding world learning oriented to discoveries and evaluating its success. The intended outcome: while exploring school learners (N=19) will discover and understand that everything is connected in the ecosystem (park); will experience the joy of discovering; will evaluate human behaviour in the nature. Such lesson focuses on development of emotions. The educative effect of the lesson was revealed not only by school learners’ comments and reflections but it was also expressed by their parents. It was established that children shared their expressions with parents after lessons but provided individual interpretation of the learning content. It is obvious that they made different discoveries.

UPPER-SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPT OF A HEALTHY WAY OF LIFE
Abstract
Stepping into the 21st century changes inevitably increase in all spheres of human life. The development of technologies, availability of different resources, the shifts of social roles and many other novelties determined human life which is getting more and more complicated. Challenges of modern society in one way or another affect the young person as well and many of them are encouraged to choose unhealthy way of living (e.g., smoking, drugs, immoderate usage of alcohol, unhealthy nutrition and other). Healthy way of living in this context becomes as urgent as never before.
The problem of healthy way of living has obviously many aspects. Over the last decade quite a lot of tests in the sphere of healthy way of living have been carried out in various countries. These tests confirm, in fact, that such components as nutrition, physical activity, overweight, self-evaluation, good learning achievements, health, image, self-confidence, behaviour and other are closely interrelated and influence each other.
The research “Healthy way of living in pupils’ eyes” is based on positivistic-quantitative approach. The authors keep to the position that measurement of causative links between variables is very important. The research was carried out in January-February, 2011. The aim of the research is to investigate Lithuanian comprehensive school upper school students’ opinions on healthy way of living. In the research the authors’ prepared questionnaire formed from open and closed questions was used (Lamanauskas, Armonienė, 2011a). 1265 Lithuanian comprehensive school 9-12 form pupils participated in the research.
It has been stated, that most of the respondents think, that healthy way of living is important and necessary. However, healthy way of living is much more important for girls than for boys. It is believable, that this, first of all, is related with self-evaluation and image. On the other hand, it is believed, that a big gap exists between the understanding of importance of healthy way of living and propagation of such way of living in practice. It has been stated, that approximately one-third of respondents propagate such way of living. Besides, younger pupils propagate more such way of living comparing with senior ones. This can be related with senior form pupils’ bigger occupation, bigger learning load. During the lessons attention is practically not paid to healthy way of living, teachers, in fact, are not interested in pupils’ activity and rest regime and do not help them to plan their daily routine properly. At school pupils do not get enough information on these questions, healthiness events are also very rare in schools. A healthy way of living concept is clearly ambiguous. It is obvious that the senior pupils have a unique position on that issue. Generally students evaluate their health as good, however there are some gender differences. It can be stated that girls assess their health as worse than the boys. It was found that girls are more interested in nutrition issues than boys, also girls are much more concerned about their body weight than boys.

NATURAL SCIENCES AT ŠILUTĖS PRIMARY SCHOOL
Abstract
Implementing of educational reforms in schools, influencing various processes of globalization, change educational process and its content. Mostly we turn to global issues and on its discussions. Lessons of Natural Sciences are left not much at school, as a result is more emphasised on World Sciences subject, where are number of historical, physical, social things. Natural science subject in primary school has become an integrated thing. In a rapidly changing world, more rarely we turn to nature, and influenced by globalization, we live a comfortable life, which is often hostile to environment. Therefore, when working with schoolpupils a teacher should set them on fire with love for nature, to develop critical persons and develop the right attitudes to nature. For this purpose, on initiative of by myself and my pupils we established nature club named “Kaštoniukas“ in 2003. The purpose of this article is to represent activities of this club. Our activities are mostly related with empirical knowledge. With pupils we try to get acquainted with alive nature by excursion, observations, participating in various projects – local and international. Every year we observe pollution of the city. We do the test of maple leave which is called Rhytisma Acerinum. As well we organise various projects against pollution. We go to ornithological center which is located in Šilutės district, where pupils are able to observe migration of birds, and also have a possibility to ring them. For the purpose to educate responsible person to nature, we participate in project Eco-School. Pupils are explained that to sort wastes are very important in case to protect the nature. In participating in the Baltic Sea Project we do Phenological Studies. As well we visit forest, where pupils know more about trees, learn how to to identify one’s location by the position of the sun or the moss growing on the northern side of three trunks. In winter they have a possibility to recognize animals from their hoof sign. There are many topics we discuss while in nature. This allows pupils to get better acquainted with the surrounding nature, look at nature with other eyes, and learn the secrets of nature; pupils learn how to study and solve problems. Experience has revealed that pupils most like the tasks they can prepare independently and those that demonstrate their inventiveness and creativity.

PARENTS’ OPINION REGARDING HEALTHY LIFESTYLE: EXPERIENCE OF ONE PRIMARY SCHOOL
Abstract
Children adopt lifestyle and habits from their parents. Pointing to the family as a mediator between a child and society, R Poškuvienė (2006) and V. Gudžinskienė (2007) noticed that conditions in the family are not always favourable for healthy development of a child. The reasons for it are various and they lie in family, school as well as in society. Insufficient movement, television, computers as well as polluted environment accompany life in the 21st century. This also results in inappropriate development of some of children.
This article aims to identify the role of school students’ parents developing the competence of health protection of children. The attitude of parents of primary children towards certain issues of healthy lifestyle in one small primary school in Lithuania is analysed.
It was established that the respondents expressed favourable attitude towards healthy lifestyle issues (nutrition, physical activity, prevention of harmful habits, etc.). They tend to believe that formation of healthy lifestyle habits in their families remains in the central issue. However, the respondents point out the factors that impede healthy lifestyle: poor financial situation and lack of time. On the other hand, parents allocate the majority of their time to children. One of the most frequent forms of spending leisure time with children is being outside and activities in the nature. Such leisure activities are favourable for health.

POSSIBILITIES OF IMPLEMENTATION OF PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN’S INVOLVEMENT IN NATURE
Abstract
Nature, its goods and beauty is our common property. For every person Nature provides possibilities to observe, experience and acquire knowledge about various phenomena. Natural science bases upon hypotheses, reasoning, research, solutions and conclusions.
Sensual contemplation and experience are among the most important methods of recognition, as due to them the harmony of solutions and integration of thoughts can be transferred to knowledge.
From the very young days every child is inexhaustible researcher and discoverer. By getting acquainted with the immediate environment the child successfully masters certain ways of recognition of the world, acquires initial information on consistency of natural phenomena and their causative relations. Educator’s purpose consists in providing for the child the most favourable conditions for recognition of processes going on in Nature.
The presented picture The Tree of Knowledge reflects the possibilities of boosting children’s interest and involvement in Nature that can be implemented in the process of (self)education.

EARTH DAY GEOGRAPHICAL EVENTS AT SCHOOL
Abstract
After the change of the teaching programmes in secondary schools a special emphasis is laido n educational quality. Attention is paid not only to the subject competencies acquirement. Common competences are even more emphasized. Thus abilities are prior to knowledge. Students are able to get such abilities not only in the lessons. Appropriate students‘ extra activities organization influences subjective and common competencies development.
The article deals with the festivals and events of the Earth Day, organized in „Rytas“ secondary school. The description and presentation methods of such activities are introduced.

SYNOPSIS OF SCHOOLCHILDREN SCIENTIFIC AND CREATIVE RESEARCH WORKS CONTEST „My view at the world around me” WITHIN 1999−2012 YEARS PERIOD
Abstract
This article shows the importance of young researchers’ preparation to scientific contests in biology, chemistry, physics and other fields. It is discussed and shown how research works contest „My view at the world around me” in fourteen years period (1999−2012) influenced the schoolchildren development successfully. It plays the important role in Natural Science Education, helps to motivate students to pursue scientific and exploratory project work. The participation in this contest teaches students to think creatively, to find out crazy ideas and apply existing, newly acquired abilities and skills to make this ideas become real research work. Furthermore, it is an opportunity to consult and discuss your obtained results with jury members, experts of different fields of science and technology, which helps to develop and improve selected research topic. This contest is the first step on the way to the participation in the higher level of natural science education competitions between young scientists.
It was observed that important element in the contest is communication between participants. Students communicate to each others, watch others research works, hear the answers to jury questions and learn to present their work, ideas more properly and precisely.
Within fourteen years of the contest existing period this competition expanded the geography of tenderers significantly and became popular among Lithuanian schools from Alytus, Jurbarkas, Kaunas, Lazdijai, Panevezys, Šiauliai, Šilalė, Varėna, Vilnius, Kretinga, Vilkaviškis, Joniškis, Telšiai, Pasvalys, Raseiniai, Elektrėnai, Širvintos etc. This is the best evidence that this contest must be continued because it is a good and effective form to teach natural sciences at schools and important for scientific students education.

PRACTICAL ACTIVITY PARADOXES – ANOTHER ONE CHILDREN COGNITIVE EDUCATION POSSIBILITY
Abstract
In modern age school in order to interest children in teaching material and achieve goals of the general education program, the teacher must find the right methods and techniques which bring the wanted results.
Finding the new forms of the work with the students is also promoted by the results of National student research material.
Based on the conclusions of National student research (Vilnius, 2006), it can be stated that students are not so good at applying theoretical knowledge in practice. How to solve this problem? One of the possible ways in addressing this problem is – practical activity in educational process. Going this way it’s necessary for the teacher to work with nontraditional methods, to include students in the educational process in a way that they cannot even feel like they are being taught, that results are expected, that they can just work together, do the investigation and make the conclusions… And while in the process – observe, analyze and communicate.
This article presents the experience on how was the experiment “The growth of the butterfly” by bringing hypothesis conducted. It is noticed, that while conducting practical activities it is required for the teacher to be very well prepared, because in practice there are often possibility for the events to develop in unforeseen direction.

THE USE OF PERSONAL WEBSITE IN THE PROCESS OF ENVIRONMENTAL KNOWLEDGE TEACHING
Abstract
The personal website http://www.zoo-dainius.lt was created in October in 2010. The aim of this website is to represent personal animals collection, to encourage society to get knowledge about exotic animals and conditions keeping them as pets; and to widen the number of Lithuanian people interested in exotic animals. In November of 2010 the new link " My students' pets" was added to this website. Here the students can describe and represent their pets. In this way students are encouraged to get more knowledge on their pets' natural life conditions and population. Descriptions are in Lithuanian and English. Descriptions of bad quality, with photos made not by themselves, and those that provoke violence against animals, also inappropriate keeping conditions and keeping of rare or dangerous species at home, are not published. It must be highlighted that this continuous project is very popular among students. This website is watched not only in Lithuania, but also in Poland, Sweden, Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Iceland, Sri Lanka also. Students can adapt their knowledge and abilities in Biology, Information technology, Lithuanian, English, Geography and other subjects. Students got interested in exotic animals, some of them now keep snakes, lizards, and spiders as pets. The students of 8th grade made an educational film "Snakes".

CHANGES OF PHYSICS CONTENT AND OPPORTUNITIES OF THEIR IMPLEMENTATION IN THE CONTEXT OF RENEWED GENERAL SECONDARY EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Abstract
In 21 February 2011 renewed general secondary education programs were approved. The main aim of renewed secondary education - a student who is ready for further education, professional career and personal life. The renewed programs are oriented to the quality of education: the curriculum responds to the changing needs of society; maintained the harmony between educational levels; curriculum accessible and efficient in nationwide system of education, curriculum changes are consistent. This paper analyzing how changed physics education programs, by which subjects was supplemented the content, what are the possible ways of implementation of the renewed content. In the context of the renewed general secondary education programs the electronic information tool for teaching nanotechnology is presented. It is presented as educational materials to supplement textbooks of physics. It analyzed and structured educational material about nanotechnology: the history of the discovery of fullerenes, scientists who discovered them, the theory of fullerenes, their applications, examples, illustrations, points of interest, simulation. Developing the site relationship with the Nobel Prize laureates who discovered fullerenes Professor Robert F. Curl and Professor Harold W. Kroto has been established. This electronic information tool should be at least partly filling the gap in educational materials on this subject. Developed electronic information teaching tool "Fullerenes" (http://www.fulerenai.eu/) can be used as a cognitive tool for secondary schools and others educational institutions. It can help teachers to organize the uptake of new material on nanotechnology.

THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION IN SUBJECT GAME DURING SCIENCE LESSONS
Abstract
In this article The Entrepreneurship Education during primary school Science lessons is discussed. General education curriculum documents present the entrepreneurship education as an important issue in today`s society. In these documents there are foreseen specific goals and means to put the education into practice. The entrepreneurship education is being integrated into other primary school subjects. Specific entrepreneurship skills such as creativity, leadership, independence, activity and personal initiatives are developed during primary school Science lessons. In this stage of education specific subject game are used. They help to gain initial knowledge of entrepreneurship.

THE FORMATION OF ECOLOGICAL SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE PRESCHOOL INSTITUTION: THE ASPECTS OF PROJECT WORK
Abstract
The sorting of waste is still not popular enough in Lithuania. With ever increasing consumption, the amount of household waste is also increasing. We don‘t give enough thoughts to the fact that while buying more and more stuff, we further promote the increase of waste. The implementation of good habits needs to start from an early age. That‘s why the good example of sorting the waste needs to be set even in the kindergarten, and in that way also educating the families about the use of secondary raw materials, the sorting of it and re-use of it. The project “I‘m Learning How to Sort Household Waste” has been running for one year. This project helped children to learn how to sort waste correctly, and in that way to contribute towards saving the nature. The implementation of this project revealed childrens` interest towards sorting the household waste. The activities that were offered and inspired, were useful and purposeful: children gained knowledge and skills, and learned how to sort waste correctly.

Abstract
Fast and manifold development of modern global life requires corresponding development of modern general as well as professional education. Author’s experience within systemic development of general upper secondary school educational physics is reported. Development of scientific thinking as overall goal is proposed to be realized by educational research based pedagogical approach and science methodology studies centred content of educational physics. General Science Education as part of modern Fundamental Education at upper secondary school level is advocated.

QUALITY OF NATURAL SCIENCE EDUCATION IN REGION OF LATGALE AS AN INDICATOR OF SUSTANAIBLE DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
Formation for a sustainable development – the extreme actual international socially-pedagogical problem underlining interrelation of environment, economy and a society. The quality analysis of Natural Science Education (NSE) of students of Rezekne Higher Education Institution (RHEI) is made as a one of indicators of sustainable development in region of Latgale. Results of research have shown that level of knowledge of NSE in 2011 by results of the centralized examinations of pupils of 12 classes both in Latvia, and in regions was not so high. The author suggests to improve quality of NSE, using separate components of educational system: strengthening of motivational spheres of pupils, students and teachers, development of creative abilities, application of new educational means, usage of ICT, presence of good material base, preparation of skilled teachers, change of a financial policy of the state in an education sphere and also availability and a reasonable expenditure of financial assets from the European funds.

EDUCATIONAL COMPLEXES FOR COURSE OF CHEMISTRY AT HIGH SCHOOL OF BELARUS: STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
Abstract
The article presents description of educational complexes that have been developed as by Belarusian so by foreign scientists. Possible use variants of these complexes are being analyzed; several educational complexes and tutorials on chemistry for the 8-th grade are being characterized, with all this research being legitimate for schools in Belarus. The article contains fragments of several tutorials that have been partially approbated in high school. Teachers’ opinions research has been held to analyze quality and use possibility of the abovementioned tutorials in school.
